Subject: 9501/Subdivision Entrance Signs Date: Fri, 18 Aug 1989 14:54:00 -0500 ORDINANCE NO. 9501 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE, PART II, CHAPTER 3, SECTIONS 3-122 AND 3-124 RELATIVE TO SUBDIVISION ENTRANCE SIGNS. _________________________ SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter 3, Sections 3-122 be and the same is hereby amended by deleting subparagraphs (i) and (ii) in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof new subparagraphs (i) and (ii) as follows: "(i) A parcel of land which is subdivided for commercial or industrial purposes must contain a total contiguous area of not less than fifteen (15) acres and must contain a total of not less than five (5) building lots; (ii) Not more than one double-faced sub- division entrance sign or two single-faced subdivision entrance signs may be placed at an entrance to a residential subdivision. Not more than one double-faced subdivision entrance sign may be placed at an entrance to a commercial or industrial subdivision." SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter 3, Section 3-124 be and the same is hereby amended by deleting subparagraph (b) in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof a new subparagraph as follows: "(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 3-93, no subdivision entrance sign for a residential subdivision shall exceed forty (40) square feet in sign area nor five (5) feet in overall height, provided, however, that in any residential subdivision with not less than a total contiguous area of eight (8) acres and a total of not less than thirty (30) building lots, such subdivision entrance sign shall not exceed one hundred (100) square feet in sign area nor ten (10) feet in overall height." SECTION 3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as required by law.
